Glad you made it out OK. That is a new one on me. Never know what our bodies have in store. You are in my prayers.

Do you think you fell from your bike?

No doubt I fell from my bike. I have been thinking about it. The timber company puts water diverters on the approach to the bridge. They are old conveyor belt buried so that about three inches sticks up and set at an angle, so the water runs off into the ditch. Usually, you run over them, and they just fold over but I may have hit it at an angle, and it spilled me. Either that or it could have been a piece of bark fell off a log truck in the road. Road had a thin layer of mud, so I probably came down the hill and the front end slid out and down I went. Just guessing though as I have no memory of it.

I hope you make a quick and full recovery. You may regain your memory of what happened in a few days.

Over time, you might recover bits and pieces of what happened. The information is likely still lodged in your brain somewhere looking for a pathway out.

Nights are pure torture. I have to sit bolt upright even with some more powerful pain killers than they originally gave me. Only chair I can stand to sit in is a low back chair so sleep is hard to come by. Still have not seen the spinal specialist I am supposed to see. Ex-girlfriend is coming over taking care of things for me. A good nights sleep would sure be nice.

Do you have high blood pressure? If so Im thinking you had a stroke. Do both your hand have the same strength?

A good friend of mine double rutted his dirt bike, after a jump and ended up in a similar shape to you. His Ex-girlfriend came and took care of him too. They have now been happily married for 20 some years and have 2 daughters, a son in law and a grandaughter.

A woman, who is willing to come help you through a tough time of life, is likely worth a second chance. Your injury may turn out to be a blessing.

Good luck.

Keith

To the questions about possible stroke. They CT scanned me for bleeds in my head and neck and found nothing abnormal. Cognitively I am as good as ever and no weakness anywhere, so I think stroke is ruled out. I just bit the ground hard face first. Made an appointment with the spinal specialist today but I have no nerve damage so it will just be a matter of healing my bones I imagine. I can feel crunching when I move my head a bit. The collar they put on me won't allow much movement though. Found a chair I can sit in and sleep a little if I take the pain killers and I am taking less of them as time goes on so road to recovery is starting.
We have a 5-month trapping season here in WA. Tomorrow is the first day, but I bet, I will be out on the trapline before it ends.

Reminds me of a time when I was 13, running as fast as 13 year old can run chasing a line drive hit to straightaway center field. There was a multi stemmed wild cherry tree at our "ballpark". I ate it pretty hard. I remember getting back on my feet, but didn't have enough hands to hold what hurt on me. I had to keep moving my hands around in a continuous manner.
I didn't break or tear anything, but I was a mess for a good long time.
