I will set a river section and pull before the gun season. Been slow the last two days, 10 rats and 6 coons! I have not caught any older males yet along the river. YOY males, females and 4 large females that probably lost or did not have litters, so I have a few that are pretty good. Will be hunting a place we never been at before. Lot of subdivisions surround the fields so there are several deer and the neighbors all want them gone, so my son and I plan to do a brown and down so we are not in the area too long. We each can get 2 free antlerless but we don't need 4-6 deer!

Congratulations on the coon catch Lance! That's a lot of skinning. Good luck with the whitetails.

Ran a few traps for 6 nights with my 5 year old son because the weather was comfortable. I think he had fun but I noticed he tended to disappear when it was time to deal with fur grin Caught some mink, rats, and beaver

Really nice black beaver and love the mink as well. I miss trapping mink in pocket sets. Keep up the great work.

Well we pulled some traps tonight on the beaver line in preparation for the regular deer season. Didn't get anymore chisel teeth but probably paid for gas.... I can hope wink

We've caught 8 beaver so far and 10 rats so all in all a good start with my trapping partner this year. He is a 30 year old I met while selling the pups and we started trapping together at the beginning of last season. This is only his second full season trapping, but he has the drive and is proving to be a quick study. Fun to watch someone advance. So far he is out trapping me on beaver this year. We've got 10 sets out to pull before Friday so might fill a couple more boards yet. Great weather to be out sure beats rain and snow.

Pulled a river line today. Two checks 15 rats, 6 coons and 1 male mink.
Tomorrow I will set my last longer line and pull it Friday AM.

Much of the area I did not trap last fall and there are less rats then my several year average.

Had beautiful weather for the Mississippi zone rat opener.I only set for one night and probably paid for my gas and refuge tags. Beaver Bill made an appearance trapping solo in his own boat and did alright on the rats and caught a nice male mink. Still getting some rats and a few mink on my small local line. Time flies when your having fun!

Set the last of my longer river sections today and two short lines. Wow what weather! Will pull the two short lines after one check and pull early Friday on the longer line. Getting hunting gear ready too. I don't know if it is wind or warm but the coon have not moved as much the last 3 days for me.

Pulled the last of my sets today, one rat. Partner has a few out he will pull tomorrow. As for me, I'm done for a couple weeks unless I fill a couple freezers earlier than expected.

Way to go WI trappers. Just looking at that coyotes I wouldn't be skinning It. There Is no market for even good coyotes. But they are fun to catch. So congratulation on catching that butt sniffer.

I place about a dozen weasel boxes on the logging road today- I have 50 or so that I store under an overhang outside- I put some birdseed in them in the summer and almost every one had a mouse nest in it. All scented up and ready to go - I did put a rat hind quarter in each one. Other than a couple otter traps that’s it until after deer season.

Hold onto your hats and be safe.

I never understood the logic of "The season is open so they must be prime" I know, trappers say they are prime around me!!! Colorado coons at 7000' elevation are just this week getting white leather, rats and beaver are still poor. I've got 4 traps set and skinning fleshing and stretching every couple days. Fox are good semi's but not heavy yet.

I frequently see weasels during the WI gun deer season. Every one of them has been white.

Best of luck on the ermine Eagleye. They are really fun to catch. I'll set for some after deer season. Good luck to all you hunters and have a safe hunt.

Gary,
I stand corrected, you were accurate but I’m only awarding you with 50% accuracy.

Ran my little road line today. Sure was a great day to be out trapping. Stopped and talked to my son and grandson who were deer hunting. They seen 8 does but no horns. Caught 11 rats, a mink, and one 35 lb beaver. Never even took my rifle out of the truck.
