Caught a friggen bobcat today.
First for me and never heard of one ever being caught here in the north.
Closest I know of their Northern limit is North shore of Lake Huron and between North bay and Temagami, about 400 KM south of here.

caught a couple coon in the last 30 years or so,none in the last 10 years at least.I put them down to hitchikers.
Last 5 or 6 years the odd long tailed weasel started showing up on the trapline.

Shhh, some ar group will want them listed and there goes your lynx sets.

That's how works down here. One of your lynx wanders south and there goes the trapping season.

We have an open quota on bobcat here.Always have as far as I know. They are not an endangered species in Ontario.Badger,Grey fox, and wolverine are protected in Ontario. When I see wolverine tracks on my trapline I will close up any wolf snares if I have any in that area until it moves on.
We have quotas on lynx formanagement purposes, set annually by the trapper and the fur tech.

If the antis are running your state fur program you need a stronger Trapping organization with some weight to insure political pull.

Pretty kitty. A little more silver on that back than a true rabbit back.

I just skinned it complete.
I will board it sometime in winter when trapping slows down a little.
I think I will get it tanned and look at it for a while.
Then when I get tired of looking at it I will sell the tanned complete skin to someone who wants to make a rug or mount.
