Tree stands can be very productive, I once hunted out of a bushy white pine with the seat about 8' high, Killed a bunch at that spot, but climbing got hard, so I just parked a free thrown out resin chair in the right location and piled them up...Used to sit a lot on the ground but found getting up about impossible... grin

I didn't see anyone mention calling. I've done a lot of that and even killed a few doing it. Grunt tubes and doe bleats have worked best for me. Rattling, not so much.

My favorite is tracking, next would be ground in the open and lastly sitting in a tree stand.

I've found that for rifle hunting the easiest way to hunt deer is to go set a camp chair and a tripod(or whatever you want) and just sit in a tree row until the deer come out into the field. Killed 2 does in 2 days of hunting just a day or two ago.

For rifle, just sit on the ground overlooking a travel corridor and bedding area.
For bow, usually a ladder stand near food.
For muzzleloader, spot and stalk of snow is on.

At my age I like to just set and wait on the impatient hunters to outthink one.
Usually happens about noonish for me,

Depends, targeting just one known buck, it’s a Summit Viper climber.

For does and any possible mature bucks, I have a lock-on in a drain with oaks and a double ladder about 500yds down the drain over looking oaks. Yes, I feed deer year round under those oaks. They come for acorns when they fall and the privet that inhabits the drain, peanuts are supplemental. It’s not if I see deer, it’s how many and what all I’ll see. Of course when I’m in the stand it’s all the young bucks, I don’t show and shooters pose for the cameras.

I like travel routes back in the brush out of a tree stand. Deer are less weary and usually seem them before low light.

Still hunting when the wind is kicking up in the mid-20's. If you're doing it right, it should take you an hour to cover an acre. I'm usually surprised , and amused , at how close I am to my truck and how quick I get there. Super unproductive, especially with my stickbows. But so fun.

I hunt from a treestand (self-climbing stand). I can hunt different spots regardless of wind direction or hunting pressure. It has worked for me.

I have gotten to really enjoying sitting in a tree . I hadn't hung stands the past few years. The wildlife observations are worth the price of admission. I knew we had a lot of bobcats , but man, I 've been seeing them frequently . Daily. Watched an armadillo fall off a rock and then somersault down a hill. And lawd , the pigs. Saw one launch a soft-shell turtle 20 feet into the air.

Creek bottoms with beaver dams old and new, pretty flat here find a 3 to 5 foot ridge are good spots here, most are old sand bars or gravel bars from Lake Agazzi from many many years ago. Some really stick out on goggle earth,we have one that runs through a 80 we have foe hunting, you can follow it on earth for about 20 miles real easy. Some years we have barley, wheat seeded down with rye grass if we have a wet warm fall some years we have a 115 acre food plot here at the house. We put in a few smaller foodplots about 1.5 to 2 acres of turnips, radishes next year I think I'll seed some pumpkins also.

Spot and stalk with a bow is my favorite. Muleys are my favorite deer to hunt but spot and stalk is awesome on whitetails during the rut when the bucks push a hot doe up into a draw or back into the pastures. Decoying is my second favorite both muleys and whitetails.

I’ve hunted a few states.

Texas we hunted sitting in a ground blind , or tower on a crossroad cutting through senderos.
West Virginia hunted rolling hills, watching a flat of a hillside.
Maryland I hunt edges of crop fields or dig into the pine woods, hunting on trails.
Illinois I hunted the thin woodlots that connected crop fields.

Regardless of where, my favorite whitetail hunting occurs during the rut, with my bow, when the deer are chasing and vocal. Usually try to stay in the woods during the rut but sometimes field edges. I enjoy using a grunt tube and getting that buck worked up as he closes the distance. Killed two bucks this year using the grunt tube, a week apart.

in the 60's and 70s' everyone made drives for deer, then people started baiting, now days no one makes drives that I know of, I like to sit and watch a trail or old woods road, I have food plots also,

I like whatever feels right at the time.
Many deer have been killed changing plan spur of the moment.
Have spent a good part of my life perched in a tree.

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo
