Utica Club was changed to Saranac Brewing. It's a knock-off of the original. Sam Adams even changed their recipe. Mass market beers use a mix of barely and rice to cut costs, make them cheaper to buy, and taste bad. That's why you can only drink the ice cold, it numbs the taste buds. Cheers and Prost.

Utica Club and Saranac are both still brewed bu FXMatts brewing. A cold UC is better than a Saranac anyday of the week

Living in MD now Natty Boh was bought out and brewed in Wisconsin, a travesty in my opinion. It is utter swill but nothing will ever go better at a crab broil with the rim kissed with Old Bay.

I think you and I grew up in basically the same area at the same time. As I recall there was a brew 102 brewery just across the San Gabriel river bridge almost into Azusa. It was on the north side of route 66 just past the rock crusher. The health department shut them down in the late 50's or so when they found dead rats floating in the fermentation vats )).

If you lived in Pennsylvania in the 70's and were a Steeler's fan you've probably had a few bottles of Iron City Jack Lambert, the Hall of Fame Steeler, used to advertise Iron City beer during his playing days. I believe Lamberts picture was also on some of the cans. When my Step-Son, who later worked with Lambert as a State Deputy Game Warden, bought Lambert a case of Iron City beer for a Christmas Present, Lambert said what are you giving me that rot gut beer for. My Step-Son ended up drinking the Iron City himself and buying Lambert a case of Michelob beer.

Worst beer I've ever had was still Purdy dang good. I appreciate that complement. I am sure you were thinking of my home brew. I need to make a batch incase you are coming over, in a blizzard. I knew a fur buyer that bought a beer brewery that had closed and used the cold storage to store fur. I heard he shipped semi loads of coon to NAFA for the March of 2013 sale. That was the sale that coon averaged $50 plus. He would buy in a market like we have now and when the time was right he would sell. He often bought from both auctions for a little of nothing. He is dead now, or he would be cleaning the floors.
