Sheffield still makes that pattern. I bought this knife a few years ago from their website. All I did was oil the handle.

Very similar to grandma's butcher knife .Every time we visited her in the summer she would go out to the garden and get some tomatoes and whet that knife on the back concrete stoop and commence to skin and slice tomatoes !

the meat packing plants used them in the 1970's and then they shut down, lots of garage sales near those plants have them for 3$.. and the kids clearing out grandpas garage..cause they are rusty

I have a health issue that cause me to want to own knives Even if I DO NOT HAVE A NEED FOR IT And in general I am not a jealous type of person I can accept that others also like nice things and it is fair that we al can have some of them So it is a real nice knife I would b happy to call it one of mine But you found it first And nice item to have Take good care of it

another very handy blade shape for all sorts of work and if your cleaning avocados to make guacamole it is the best cut around , open , whack the pit and twist then slice a few times in the skin and use the end like a spoon to pull all the fruit out.

makes a good sandwich , slices the cheese , skins a deer , cuts stew meat
