So where are you? Do you belong to any one OF the Pa districts trapping associations? Look up Pa trapping Association and find your district......jk Yes FTA and PA district 3. Still no one local. I wish my grandpas was still alive. He trapped as a kid! By the time I showed interest he was already gone

My biggest questions were dispatch related and that apparently cannot be discussed here Not publicly, by PM only. But also best handled mentor/mentee.

Better get used to a bit of pain and disappointment, if you want to be a trapper. That's life in general. Lol Very true.

Is it just me or did the tone change on this thread after SHE posted a picture?

The little 110s are the worst! I have zero respect for them and they seem to always snap my pinky right on a side nerve. Had a 330 on my thumb, one safety fell off so only the one spring went. Embrace the pain, it lets you know you’re still alive.
Since I was a teen, I called myself a trapper. I only really got into it 2 years ago, and boy, I realized that I knew nothing! It’s a steep learning curve, it’s starting to flatten out, but it’ll never be horizontal….lol. My last 2 years have been all trapping, trapping related activities, a bit of hunting and lots of work to pay for all this. I also never had a mentor. Lots of conventions, questions on here and the Canadian forum, piles of books, videos & YouTube. I’m trapping some beaver on a golf course that’s shut down for winter. Had a question about my sets with dive sticks and got an easy answer from the old grouchy vets…..and it was so simple. Good luck!

Truly, no one traps in my area except young kids trying to learn! I’ve been to trappers banquets and reached out to a lot of people but couldn’t find anyone within a 45 min drive. It’s not gonna stop people like us! I just want to do it right and not cause excessive suffering to animals nor deal with bullies on the trap line

The conventions is where it’s at! I’ve only been to the big national and Minnesotas, they’re huge. Looks like Manitoba is finally organizing one for this spring. I’m sure some eastern states have some nice ones. The National was impressive. All these trappers there and only one guy stank…..but it was bad, I was sitting behind him at a demo, 85 degrees, I almost passed away.

You don't want them to be able to climb up the tree. They could be hard to get down or loose their grip and end up hanging from the trap.

This a long read but is may of interest to you. There is actually a lot of good info in it but you do have to wade through a lot of bs.

Yea the tone changed , I was going to say don’t be afraid of body gripping traps , when you fold the springs in you can probably get more 110’s in your purse than long springs. Now I’m thinking if you have an old purse it may very well be a good way to carry trapping gear ( snares, lure , bait , 110’s ) lol. Welcome . Yes ,that it would! I’ll have to ask my mom for one! (If she knew it was for trapping, she’d have a fit. She never wanted me to do anything outdoorsy)
