Some of you have been following the thread "Walking the River". Three years ago when fur prices were down I started getting interested in finding fishing lures that other people lost. When Covid hit I had some time on my hands to test out several theories I had about where lures could be found and I began developing some simple, cheap equipment to retrieve them. Fast forward to now and I have found over 2,000 crankbaits and tons of other interesting things while out walking the river. A year ago I got serious about putting my ideas onto paper and this week it became available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CLKHTLJ...2fcLjTCyuM1UH2YlHo0fjZvCfgELrnyQvU6yqCn4The main selling point of the book is that if you understand the concept the book will actually pay for itself in all the lures you find after one or two outings. Trappers have a leg up on the competition because you are already out there and know how to look for sign. Best wishes, Brian "Green Bay" or "Lure Hunter" on Facebook. PS. Paul gave the Okay for this post.

That's cool good luck with it. I assume you are doing a print on demand. Yes, self published and print on demand. Brian

Sounds fun. Now, that I'm retired with time on my hands, how do I get a copy?
With the US so divided, I'm just glad to be on the side that believes in God, has the most guns, and knows which restroom to use.

Do you know Ed the Diver? You may have run into him in DePere. Yes, I do know Ed. I helped him on one of his videos last March. I also stay in contact with him about local water conditions. I don't scuba dive so everything in my book is how to find lures without that expensive equipment. Brian

It makes sense if you only do a few dives per year.

I would wager most lures are lost in less than 6 feet of water my son took the paddle board and a mask and got a lot of lures one day on the Sugar
he also caught a heck of an ear infection and it seemed a little less worth it on the second antibiotic when his ear drum ruptured
so if your using the head under water method , also see Macthedivers recipe for earl cleaner post dive
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

The book outlines how to find lures without diving. I rarely go in the water deeper than my knees. In some ways finding lures is a lot of like trapping - location, location, and location. However, once you understand that it all becomes about techniques and equipment.

I have found some nice lures while metal detecting in water with my Excalibur.
