When I was growing up we had a couple nice gun cabinets with glass in the doors. Now, I don't leave anything outside a gun safe.

If displayed, make sure they are secure. Displayed guns can turn into stolen guns very easily. Something I have never been concerned about. When you don't have many people over, and live out in the country, and there is at least someone at home 90% of the time there is litle concern. Seldom do the doors get locked. Why lock them? If I want in the lock won't stop me I would just bust the glass on the door or a window. Leav them open and at least you won't have to fix what they break to get in. Honestly if they know my family well enough to know what's here to steal and are brave enough to try they can have what they get. Most likely they would just shorten their life expectancy

My guns have always been hung in racks on the wall or in a couple of glass fronted cases. Most of them right now are in my office/man cave, others in the master bedroom. I’ve been doing it that way for 50+ years and never lost a gun. When we have company over we shut the doors to the office and master bedroom. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2023/11/full-272-197670-b32c2921_94ab_43d8_9b69_3e95a80f1c8e.jpeg)

We never lock our doors either. I guess the sound of my dogs going crazy at the slightest outside disturbance has been a pretty good deterrent all these years.
The wife does lock the doors when she’s home alone, when I’m working out of state.

As a kid, my Grandparents had guns in the corners of most room and ammo in the drawers in the kitchen. Dad kept his in the closet in his bedroom, and we knew to never touch them without asking, period, ever!
When I was married I had both a gun safe and had 4 I used most on a rack over the fireplace, and never had an issue with my kids as they knew the rules same as I had. I feel the key is to make sure they KNOW darn well and sure how dangerous and deadly even a tiny 22 can be.
Now I keep ALL my guns and most ammo locked up in a heavy duty gun VAULT, not because I fear them or anyone in my home using them incorrectly, but in this day and age I trust no one when it comes to guns that is not family or a trust friend of MINE!!!
Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure

I've used one of these for years. Then it became more important to secure my guns in a vault. The old wooden rack is now used for my pellet guns.

I found an old kitchen cabinet about 6' tall with bottom drawers and 4' tall top doors. The top doors have the wood cut out of them and some one put glass put into them where the wood panels were. It has no back on it. It's white painted and rough looking. I'm going to mount it to a wall so it doesn't move and display old doubles in it. I think I'll put green felt on the bottom and back. It was free along the road. It isn't for security just looks old like the old double guns.
Just passin through

Gun safe here. I do not show what I have. Yep and I wanted them protected from fire too.
I have nothing clever to put here.
