I cash in my points from my credit card each November, and I use those gift cards as Christmas presents. I pay the credit card off every month, so this is like free money to me. This year I was able to get gift cards totaling $500. It makes Christmas a little easier on the wallet. Anyone else do this?

Yes. I charge everything I can to my credit card. I pay it off in full every month]and then exchange my points for gift cards. I wonder if the card company looks at me as a free loader because I never get charged inertest or late fees grin

Just like that circling coyote they hope you will step on the pan stead of just eating the bait.

My Sons do that with their business and get a free plane ride to Mexico every winter.

Finanancial Advisors tell you to make your money work for you I would say you are doing that I would receive a Christmas bonus from my former employer It was based on length of service so the amount was very nice I would attempt to use it to make Christmas a little more special by Gettig some item that Otherwise I would not have purchased Some times I would get something for me and other times I would give it as a gif It always made me feel a little more grateful for the joy of Christmas

Mine is a visa through PNC - PNC points Visa Signature.
I also have one that has a cash back feature. - PNC Cash Rewards Visa Signature - I rack up around $500 a year in cash on that one.

I have 3. Two from capital one. One I use for most every thing. 2% cash back. Have to request a check though no cash. Or I can use the card then pay the bill with "rewards". The other bass pro for when I buy from them. I get points back. Same deal. Can use points at time of purchase or request a check. The third is from FNBO. I got it when I bought a jeep. Says jeep on it. It has 1% cash back but supposed to be 5% at a dealer. Had my oil changed the other day so I used it. Looking at the receipt the dealer charged me 3% for using the card. I haven't closed it out yet but I think I will and just pay cash when the warranty runs out on my jeep. Just change oil myself.

none of the three has an annual fee

My PNC Cash Rewards Visa Signature pays 4% on gas purchases, 3% at restaurants and 2% for everything else. As much as I'm on the go, the gas purchases give me the bulk of my rewards. None of my cards charge an annual fee.

My Sam's Club MasterCard does the same thing. Last time my wife and I cashed in we had a credit of over $3000 between us. We used it on in store purchases but could have been cashed out. We use these cards for most buys but must be disciplined enough to pay balance in full each month.

Scheel’s credit card users get a gift card each month, depending on what they spend. I recently cashed in $900 worth to reduce the cost of a pair of Swarovski binoculars.

waiting for some of trapperman members to step up and complain about Paul using credit cards to his advantage and how that's not right costing all of us in the end because small businesses are charged fees for the credit card use. They are probably afraid to say anything negative. I have seen it before on this site. Of course there is always someone that disagrees with anything people post.

For me I have two visas that I pay off every month and use the points to pay it down when I feel like it. They will also send me cash back.1% on most purchases but every quarter I get 5% on some charges I use regularly. Never figured which was the best to go for 2% or stay where I am at.
