The pond it's in has what looks like weeds growing from the bottom. A few days ago I was standing there and something slaped the water there and I also found a bubble trail under the ice. So I'm thinking it's a beaver or otter. My qustion is can they live in a pond that has things growing from the bottom I though they like open water.

They sure can. As long as the water is deep enough and they have food

pay attention to the above snare pole set as newly swimming beaver float and may freeze to the top ice

Are there specific snares you guys like to use underwater /ice

I prefer a10- inch diameter snare of 1X16 diameter 1X19 cable and an adams lock with a pigtail wire for tying to the pole rather than stapling the snare to the pole.

Thank you. I know that in certain areas down here I have to follow specific regs & one of them is it must be a relaxing snare so I might just avoid that area all together

I doubt if that applies to under ice beaver snares?

I was hoping but fwp just reiterated to me that the regs state "all snares"..
