It's always a relief when you find one you were worried about. I'm glad it didn't go far. Hopefully it left a good blood trail that was easy to follow and made you return trip to look quick and easy.

You handled that exactly right. Glad you found him.

Good job recovering the deer. The coyotes didn't find it first did they? I've been on the losing end recovering deer by looking too quick so I'm glad it worked out.

I left one go overnight , last year ... lost the blood in the dark ..
Found it early the next morning ... coyotes got almost half the deer eaten by then
Glad you got your deer ..

Thought about taking a picture of the liver but I was by myself and hands were a mess. Coyotes didn't get him although I got up at 4 and went outside as the dog was barking. Not much of a blood trail at all but cavity was full of blood. Wasn't as far back as I thought but ended up getting part of a lung, liver, and stomach. If you didn't see above post: For you guys guessing I paced it off as 65 yards from when I saw him last.

Nice deer. Good job on the recovery. 65 yds. is enough to lose one in heavy brush. How's the meat?

Nice deer! It can be hard to make yourself wait to recover. Good job tracking it down.

Good for you for waiting on a questionable shot. Smart move and great result. Congratulations!
