I'm heading up tuesday to hopefully cross a bobcat off my bucket list. With no fishable ice on my walleye lakes I figured this would be a good year. I'd have gone up saturday but my Christmas tree business gets in the way of having fun.The DNR regulations say the bobcat must be skinned to register. So I take it if you want to have it mounted you must skin it yourself the way a taxidermist wants it? Could they make you guys jump through any more hoops ? Who stays up at night...dreaming this crap up ? Its the state we live in. We have to read and re-read the whole regulation book evey year and hope we dont miss anything. I confirmed it with my taxidermist that he would prefer skinning it himself. So if I get one big enough to mount I have to run 100 miles to his place the day I get it. Then pick up the carcass before registering because the DNR wants every bobcat carcass. Ridiculous.

Goldy, if you want to see even MORE ridiculous, you do know that they SELL the carcasses on auction right? It is usually in the Spring when they sell the whole pile of rotten carcasses. Bobcat soup anyone?
I have nothing clever to put here.

No cats or fishers for me today buy did see a couple of sets of cat tracks. One walked by one of my sets and the other in a new spot I finally got to get into having to wait til after muzzle loading season. Missed an otter but did pick up a young female coyote so the day wasn't a total wash. Got in a few more sets in today and sure hope to connect soon. Rick, you aren't careful, Scott might be picking up another cat before he heads home! Sure hope you two can connect on his martin!

Tim...One Big "Beautiful" Tom Cat is enough for me up here. I'd be happy to get a Martin though for sure or Even a Fisher. Rick has shown me a lot of cool sets . I will be using my dbl longs now ...Back home. I have always said that if I could get a 48 hour check on footholds and snares for cat season, I would NEVER set another 220 for them.
