That could certainly be arranged if you’re going to the NTA convention next summer!

I remember there was an Alaskan trapper that caught a wolf in a Bridger brawn and the wolf chewed/ broke the wire lever. He posted the pics in the wilderness forum. I never heard anything good about them however I never tried them. I've only used the #9's for wolves and it's been a good trap, to bad it's not on your list.

The Bridger is too heavy and too slow compared to the #9 Alaskan.

I know there's a difference in price but what does that matter if you can't catch anything with the Bridger?

I did a quick search and can’t find a supplier, but it’s not on Manitobas approved list anyways. The pan tension was pretty light, but like Northof50 said, we got freezing rain followed by snow on Friday. There was a speck of blood in every other step on the way out. Snaring the buggers is a lot easier, but I’d like to get one in a foot hold. I’m getting a few conflicting answers everywhere I’ve asked. What worked for some, may not work for others….or one bad experience with a trap (like this one..lol) and they’re finished. I’m gonna stick it out with the Bridgers for a bit longer. Once the snow really falls it’ll be full out snares.

So you didn’t read it, but felt confident enough to bash it on Tman, got hammered for it and felt shame….lol

You got any tips from your successful wolf trapping adventures?

I can see you read my post about as well as you did the ATA manual. I am good with what I said about the manual because what I said is the truth. I gave you the tip: it was use # 9's.Guess you missed that part also.

Nothing wrong with anchoring solid to trees, I've done it and know several wolf trappers that do. I know of multiple guys who have had issues with the Bridger #9 breaking the wire spring levers, I think usually from wolves biting them, but I'm not sure that has always been the case. I don't know of anyone actually losing a wolf from this however, apparently springs on one side are still strong enough to hold one.

The Lay 76 is a really stout trap also, but the price is outrageous. I've had ahold of one but never owned or used one because of the price. I thought the Koro 9 got approved, but I don't see it on your list?

Paul has prohibited the maker of Koro traps from posting here, so he can not defend this post.
If I remember right in the trials, there was one trap or animal that failed.
so it is back to the testing for them

Yea, I think you quoted so White17. #9. You’ve had success with them? Or just hanging snares in mums garden?

Held a lycan with a #9 no issues so you should be good to go.

Jake, did you have one snare out? If so, a good rule of thumb, especially at a bait pile, is if it's good for one snare hang several.

I had several near this spot, but moved some to a different spot a mile away. After a light rain, turning to wet snow, the trees were all bent over the trail and a lot of my snares were blocked. They just went around taking the easier route. I brushed off the snow at the little bait site and other areas, then it came through……that one spot! Lol.
Savvy lives close to me and I’m gonna pick up a bunch of gear this weekend. Ideally, I’d like to have every possible route covered with a couple snares, but I can’t just go and pick up 100 Rams……well, I could, but I’d also need a divorce lawyer too.

Going to contact Bob at Conservation and ask him about this approved list. There’s alotta good traps out there that aren’t listed. Last I heard, it was something like $10 grand (I think Northof50 might chime in) to get a sample certified? Duke said they’re sending their 850 to FIC for certification.
