Well I just went out and tried a 1/2" re bar stake In about 4 different kinds of box swivels. The swivel rotated around the re bar just fine. If your having problems just take the swivel and put It in your vise and give It a squeeze and open it up a bit. If you don't have a vise just tap It with a hammer.

Doing that to my dog proofs also. New guys always find this kid of problems at last moment.

I use a 7/8 th lock washer on the end of the chain. Open it up to where you can get it through the chain, close it back together then I tack weld it. I use a single 20 inch rebar stake but I too run 30 inches of chain. I've never had a stake jacket out with a few 1000 coyotes caught in the last 40 years
