Now that the ANTI's have their foot in the door, they aren't
going to be satisfied with this victory.

They will be going after everything that is consumptive use
dealing with wildlife in New York State.

Since the Democrats have controlled both the Assembly & Senate
in the Legislature for quite a few years. I'm surprised It's taken
them this long to go after our hunting, trapping, & fishing heritage
here in New York State.

The future of the consumptive use of wildlife activities
are in real trouble in NYS with a democratic governor & legislature.

Is anyone in Albany that stupid to think this new law will reduce the number of pelt worthless coyotes trapped or shot ending up in the ditch ?

What was the Canada Goose complaint that the coyotes were not responsibly resourced? Just where in this Nation is there a shortage of coyotes it’s just AR lies and BS.

I don't think it's about saving the coyote.

It's really about ending trapping, hunting, & fishing
and gaining control of New York's Upstate rural citizens
by the downstate politicians & urban population.

What is her definition of a contest? If the season is open, she can't stop you from hunting. I didn't see any comments about prizes, but presume she is trying to stop the gambling aspect of it?

Edit: I didn't see TurkeyWrangler's reply. So, if a bunch of guys kill a bunch of whatever, they can't be entertained, with or without prizes. I dare you all to test her resolve.

In my opinion,

We never did need the Department of Environmental Conservation.

The old NYS Department of Fish & Game worked just fine for NY sportsmen.

The new fangled NYS DEC created in 1972 was just a
smoke & mirrors way for politicians to get their
money grubbing paws on hunting/trapping/fishing licence dollars.

Saying wildlife & environmental pollution concerns were inextricably tied
and must be managed together was just a sportsmen license money grab.

The budget for game wardens (DEC ECON POLICE) soared to
over 50% of the fish & game fund when the DEC took over.

Monies available for fish & game stocking, wildlife projects,
hunting & fishing access, and habitat improvement in
state forests & wildlife management areas plummeted
under the new DEC management.

DEC was the worst thing that ever happened to NYS's Fish & Game.

VT did the very same ban on coyote hunting tournaments a while ago. The anti groups are organized all across this country it seems. We’ve been under attack by the anti trapping/hunting groups this last year they’ve been trying to get hunting coyote with hounds and all trapping of fur bearers banned. The F&W has just created a new season for coyote hunting with hounds and new trapping regulations requiring BMP.

Horse face Hochul strikes again. She is as corrupt as Cuomo. I agree with what Walleyed has said. With her as governor and a democrat controlled legislature NY sportsmen are in big trouble.Look at how Remington arms has been driven out. As Walleyed pointed out things were much better when it was the New York State Conservation Department. No longer do we have game wardens, now we have Environmental conservation officers. Our trapping regs are a mess and the DEC biologists have to play political games in order to keep their jobs, rather than make proper wildlife management decisions. Let's see, how many years since the otter reintroduction in western NY and still no open season. Private, sneaky deals??? Hochul sure takes care of Buffalo Bills with that costly stadium. I could rant forever !

This will be hard to enforce since there is no definition of contest.

That's so dumb! But honestly they are changing the Minnesota state flag because it was racist to natives so why wouldn't the liberals try and get rid of trapping!!

Liberals: That's animal abuse, I will never eat a animal! EAT PLANTS!!

Trappers: We rely on animals to keep us alive. And no I will not eat grass like a cow!!

Liberals: Well your hurting the animal numbers!

Trappers: Yeah and your hurting my brain!

It is also another step toward making way for wolf introduction in NY.

Well, if there is no definition for an assault rifle I'm sure they don't believe they need a definition for a contest. Can be called anything they want.
