Thats a dandy.

It is still 36 here and isn't forecast to get below freezing until Thursday night. That will be the better part of a week of rain and above freezing and still no snow. Pretty tough on the resort, fishing and snowmobile communities.

Neighbor picked up his cameras last week and had what looks like a nice Tom on one of them. I was planning on putting out a few sets for him but been delayed with all this rain. I can get out there but not without ripping up his field roads. It'll have to wait a few more days I guess.

Who would have thought about leaving ruts in the ground in late Dec,different year.Like Rob said,there's more open water now than for the opener back in Oct.I have a few more checks here before I pull the plug this year,heading out shortly,be nice to pick up 1 or 2 coyote this week and maybe that last cat.Have a great day everyone.

I guess we got a clue about the late freeze up here this year with the lack of beaver feed beds this fall,compared to other years.

The other day was the first time I was actually wondering if I was going to get stuck on a gravel road on my line! About 6 inches of sloppy mud on top of frost. Weird year for sure.

I abandoned the PU even on gravel driveways. I hooked up to my trailer and loaded the wheeler. Just been pulling into the driveway enough to unload. In this rain I quickly understood what motivates guys to buy a side x side with cab.

almost 24 hours of rain here, the dirt roads are a mess.

Rain and freezing rain earlier,gravel roads where VERY SLICK,pavement wasn't bad yet.Pulled a bunch today creek's came up about 10",saw a fox track,a coyote track and more wolf tracks again today.I'm down to 2 cat locations and some coyote snare's that could pick up a cat.Weasel don't like rain,two days in a row without a catch,only have 5 boxes out.It might start freezing Thur 25 low 34 high,Sat cools down to teens and twenties so things will freeze up over the weekend.I plan on pulling everything next week.Stay dry if you can.

Once things finally freeze up this weekend I may set up one or two spots again close to home. Until things freeze HARD again working off gravel roads or ice are out of the question. The last I looked we were at about 2.5 inches of rain in the last couple of days.

You guys have had more rain for sure,1 1/2 to 1 3/4" here which is way too much for this time of year.Guessing in 3 weeks when I head out west to work with the bee's it will be below zero and winter will begin.I know the big lake here needs this rest period,I bet the resort owner's want -20,-30 temps to get their season going.A friend of mine is a pilot and says there are plenty of open water spots on LOW.What ever happen's this winter will be shorter than most.Going to take in some hockey games in the next few days,holiday tournaments.
