Price has been creeping up on lynx last couple years same as the marten. I'll be happy if I get at least the same as last year on the cats. After the cats are all put up I will grade them and pull a few to go to the tannery. Tanned lynx sell fairly well for a good return.

Ever sell Lynx to taxidermists? Yes I have sent some skinned complete to FHA for sales to taxidermists at auction. I drop them off and they set them aside for the taxidermists that buy the wolves bears and wolverines Size and handling is the main factor for them. They are not drummed because of the claws.

I meant directly to a taxidermist. There is a website I used www.taxidermy.net, in the past, to advertise furs for sale to individual taxis. I know shipping to the US is a problem/costly for you. So are there taxis in Canada looking for furs? Are you restricted as to where you can sell fur?

I dont sell anything across the border-too much BS with the US F+W. I have had connections with local outfitters in the past who will put in a request for wolf or lynx -(frozen whole, raw,or tanned) or articles made out of those, for their American bearhunters to take back to the states with them for mounts rugs etc.I did quite a bit of buisness like that back in the 90's.as did a fair number of other trappers, probably some still do. I have a big enough market developed locally now to move as much as I can produce without chasing any new markets. If I get an unusual animal I will float that out thru word of mouth and if someone wants it to to get it stuffed I sell it to them frozen whole or as a tanned complete skin-then they can deal with the taxidermist.
MT-Jurassic Park is a taxidermist on here he could probably answer your question about how he sources his stuff.

Some lynx are pretty fat,and any little bit of grease around the skirt looks terrible to me in the fine fluffy fur. No matter how careful you are on the fatty cats it always happens. What i do after they dry is rub some borax into the greasy fur around the skirt and give it a brushing in all directions, and repeat a couple times. This is easy to do and takes out all the grease or oil and makes the fur fluffy again. its not a necessary step as drumming at the auction house will remove it,it just bugs me to see that on a cat. It doesnt bother me on other fur.
