Sad to hear, we lost a town cop about an hour from me, my classmate said the killer was a distant cousin of his, same exact last name

Prayers for Family

A few years back my small town lost a cop when he wrecked his car chasing a car theft or something. The whole town made a big deal about it for weeks. I didn't understand it o the poor hero. Um ok. The guy drove his car beyond his abilities and crashed resulting in his death and put anyone in the area At the daytime in danger. He didn't jump in front of a bullet to save someone, rum into a burning building or even save a cat stuck in the tree. He drove recklessly beyond his abilities and it resulted in his death. No one was in danger from the car theft except from his driving.

This on the other hand is very tragic and example of what cops chance in every incounter multiple times a day. Domestic disputes are some dangerous situations. Guy had survived a war zone only to be killed by a 57 year old head case here at home.

Happens about every week now, media ranting how bad cops are 24/7 what do you expect? No idea why anyone would put a badge on in this day and time, if you don't get killed you end up with a dope head over dosing and get blamed for his death and sent to prison for murder. Dept's up here been bought off by the cartels best i can figure, got people missing willy nilly all over the place, locals know who did it, cops do too but claim nothing to see here. Several missing were found and ruled accidental deaths even though no autopsy was performed, etc, etc. Crazy world we live in now.

Said he was mentally challenged. Probably get a few years in a nut house and then get released to kill somebody else.

Basically a rural red county with one blue city county seat. Old mill town that lost the last of the mills over a decade ago. Demographics typical with typical blue city crime and corruption, including the city police.

The Sheriff ends up having to deal with it. Every major issue in the county occurs in the city. Fortunately we got a good sheriff that runs a clean dept.
