I was at a house for the what went bump in the night type call. Customer thought it must be a raccoon or opossum, nope you have rats under your house, so I got a few traps out start my pre baiting process and then left the traps without bait for a couple nights. Stopped today to re-bait and set the traps, looks like the rats got mad I stopped feeding them, about ate the pans off the traps!

The Willamette valley seems full of them lately. I catch more than my share, 48 is my record from one home, they thought they had a squirrel. Inside the home was spotless, they had been feeding nuts like mad. Nice older couple. This home seems clean too, just had rats under it, it is a modular home so a lot harder to get sealed up.

I’m guessing there will be full traps tomorrow. There is a national company around me that refers me to some of these jobs. I find it funny they are in the pest control business but pass rat jobs off to me along with any wildlife jobs they are not licensed for.

I have had to break out the mini connibear traps to catch a few that the conventional rat traps wouldn't handle

Peanut butter is my go to mouse/rat bait

I did a job by the landfill, took several dozen traps. I ordered half a dozen different baits for the job, they come in all sorts of colors textures ext. I found they would jump over traps to get to the Green Machine bait from Wildlife Control Supply. Looks like guacamole but is peanut butter based I’m guessing from the smell. All I use now.

You can tell from the picture above they clean it right up. That trap had been baited several times, no more Green Machine left

I never had much luck with those traps. Guess you don't either.

Those small conibears (size 55 or 60s) work great for rats.

I use these traps all the time, I have used the small rbg’s at times. There are definitely tricks to consistently catching rats. But for your run of the mill city rat the Victor Professional is the best choice.

One of my brothers who lives next door accused me of causing a rat infestation on our place because of the carcasses that I have pile up from time to time. Went over to his place shortly after and noticed that they feed their cat outside on an open porch and have a bird feeder that squirrels knock down stuff from too. crazy

My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

I agree, they aren't at all dumb. Some are smarter than some of the animals we trap for their fur.

That's a good one Vinke, They sure can cause a lot of damage in a hurry. They also seem to like the pex pipe the plumbers are using now. Insurance company's are trying to find ways to not pay for the damage, sometimes I feel they are ripping off the customer's. Telling an 80 year old lady she should be inspecting under her house bi-weekly? I'm not sure why the increase in population the last few years. Maybe it is Beaverpeeler leaving carcasses' out.

Check out Gregory Ross on Youtube, he has some great mod tips for those Victors.

Rodents are not covered by most insurance policies.
My AZ rat business is crazy.

Remodeled home with open entry from the sewer

Half the time we have to do a smoke test to find the damage.
Remove Sheetrock bla bla bla
I will say that to this point I have not found them on pex type products
