Yep, the 34 spiral springs were diamonds Wolf traps and the 33 spiral springs were diamonds fox and Coyote traps. I do believe they were the first 4 coiled traps on the market.

Shroeder cages. The set of three that nest inside each other. Sleepy creek #11 dls, and the sleepy creek 4.5 offset beaver trap.

Why do I carry 10mm? Because shooting twice is just silly.

#2 Montgomery round jaw with music wire springs and smooth round jaws,
Or the #2 Montgomery square jaw dogless.

I didn’t own very many of those two models, but they only got used it very private and special places on my line because I didnt want ever lose them if I could help it. They were the gold standard coyote traps at the time in my opinion. I was mainly a long spring coyote trapper but I did cherish my Monty’s.

I have a half dozen Montana #2 round jaws now and those are pretty closely made to the original Monty round jaws. I can’t seem to find any more of those either lately.

Jim

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Thanks for the memory. Thats where dad sold all his 80's fur. Its a roofing place now. Those were the days.

Good heavy duty box traps for sale at Autumn Oaks in Richmond Labor Day weekend at the Richmond IN fairgrounds. Some guy builds them and used to stack a trailer full of them for the show.

You are welcome to camp at my place if you need a spot to stay.

My original box traps are beat up or missing from being loaned out.

I have 1 smaller trap, built like the coon sized ones. I once caught a 26 pound boar coon in one. He barely had the space to blink. He had near perfectly took on the shape of the box trap. I think the heavy door tapped him hard on the rear end, startling him so badly, he pushed in as hard as he possibly could. I couldn't have packed him much tighter with a hammer.

The solid metal door made it much easier to approach skunks and to release catches, in the rare cases where I chose too. I got no back outs in them, like I did occasionally with the lighter door traps.

I had a coyote that would travel down my line and raid my box traps and a few very large coons that would do the same. 2 strategically placed 1 1/2s just in front of the door stopped that problem whenever it occurred.

Like Jim said the old Monty #2s were some flat setting strong traps with good jaws. I will say John Graham's Montana #2 rj are much more heavily built...good trap.
