Just talked with Ahlmans, to convert 742 to 760 is $400. Sell and buy different. Osky

Just talked with Ahlmans, to convert 742 to 760 is $400. depends what you have in the 742 as 760s start about 7-800 right now with some selling north of that , it is a little crazy. if you can find one under 600 in good shape it would be very rare
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Just talked with Ahlmans, to convert 742 to 760 is $400. That is why I buy the worn out ones and just scrap them out. Unless the rifle is sentimental, repairing them is cost prohibitive.
I have nothing clever to put here.

Squash, this is not true. I buy them all the time for parts. No one will buy them as a working rifle for resale would probably be an accurate statement. They are worth the wholesale value of the sum of the parts.

My 742 was my first rifle I purchased at 16, new for $160. For sentimental reasons and to convert a once great rifle that I harvested many whitetails with, I may spend the $400. Thanks for the info.

I have a 742 in 30-06 that I purchased in 1967. It jammed some when I was shooting hot reloads that were not sized correctly. Once I obtained a set of small base dies and used recommended loads, it ran like a champ. No problems.
Mine has a Leupold 1X4. Iron sights have been removed. Swings and points like a shotgun on running deer. Easy to keep both eyes open up to 2.5X. Sweet combo. I have a 742 BDL Deluxe, left handed. It was a special order from the factory. It has a cheek piece on the right side with a left handed safety. It's chambered for 30-06. It has killed a bear, quite a few elk, numerous deer, and a few wild hogs. I loaded all my cartridges. A small base die is a must. The only problem I ever had with it was a broken extractor.
One day you'll find someone who is obsessed with you. It's probably going to be a dog. But, it is what it is.
