Bearcat2, you must have missed where I said I was the end user, most buyers are not and figure things like your learning curve into their buying, I do as well, I don't buy it !
As for buying or wanting to buy dirty fur or not put up properly, I've never seen that here where I live, people seem to really care about showing there handiwork off, it's a class act thing !! Maybe your not aware of such a thing !
As a fur buyer who uses the fur I buy, of course I would not purchase stuff like that presented in such a manner, and I don't know any one else as a buyer who would either, hence the fancy art of deception in sewing to present it as useable, and I never said part of it wasn't, but in your example of trying to do that my regard for it is as useless as trying to save it !
Only one reason to use that pelt for anything would be to see how well one could use sewing as a saver for presentation, of which I have learned many years ago my self and through that I learned it a waste of my time when using the fur sent out to be tanned. I have sewn many fur holes up since and they work out fine for my use, some two inches or better due to my shot, because I learned where to shoot and how to flesh as well. However I never have sent anything or bought anything as your lesson has been shown and I would always talk with the seller on how to prevent it next time, unless at an auction where usually a buyer does not meet the seller !
If one never see's their sewing job after tanning, they probably would feel pretty high on that presentation, seeing is believing, you might want to just send out something like that to a tannery and see how it comes back, if you or any one else doesn't believe me, yea it will cost you to do so, but sometimes the cost of a lost dollar is an important learning tool !!
