Joking aside. I have an old Remington break open SS. Killed a bunch of grouse with it using the CCI 22 shot shells. They work.

Never had a problem with the case getting stuck.

This is my experience with autos. Not enough force to auto eject on most of them but do fine as manual operation. They cycle fine out of my semi mark 2 rugar hand gun.

What are they good for? In Indiana they are for shooting frog's. Solid bullets are illegal. I have also shot mice with them..

For carpenter bees I used to use my mart 2 handgun with solid bullets or a rifle. But switched to a daisy buck bb gun for the high ones and yard sale tennis racket for the ones I can reach.

I shoot quite a few red squirrels off the birdfeeder. Bout 20 ft max.
They will not eject out of either of my 2 semi's.
Gotta load one at a time.

When I was kid, I used a Winchester 74 with bird shot to shoot sparrows out of the bus barn AT THE SCHOOL so they didn't set in the rafters and poop on the buses. It worked and cycled fine in that gun, but they were the crimped ones not the plastic covered ones. I honed my shotgun skills mowing the school yard and fields with a Ford tractor and belly mower and shooting ground squirrels (grinny's to us Iowans) with a .410 single shot too. Didn't want holes dug in the ball fields! It was a good gig being the son of the head bus mechanic/grounds keeper.

It was called moskeet when I was a kid not many targets hit, most broke when they hit the ground.

65 years ago as a kid, I would stalk the livestock stalls for rats. Killed hundreds with crimped shot in a single shot bolt rifle. Often I killed rats at nearly point blank range, when they stuck their heads up through the peanut hay.

Max range was about 12 feet.

I used them on sparrows around my grandfathers greenhouses. They were not good for longer ranges but did well within about 15 feet or so.
I also found them to be quite sporting to try and hit the white butterflies that landed on his cabbage. The tiny shot also didn’t mess up his grinder much like when I was trying to shoot those with copperhead BBs from my pump BB gun. When he ground cabbage for coleslaw and they started finding BBs and I had to fess up to shooting at the butterflies. Never had a problem with the tiny shot in the .22 LRs.

After multiple tries, the bird feeder is out of range.

Flipping RR ties for mice they did well the shot will bounce off a beer bottle at a short distance.

I've used those on rattlesnakes in a Ruger Wrangler single action pistol with great results! One shot to the head and dead.

They are great for snakes inside of barns.

A switch to CB shorts did the trick!

They are great for specific close range purposes. Here is a good example

I had a mouse I couldn't catch back when I was 19. Every night it would take off across the kitchen counter. I tried everything to trap it with no luck. So I put a couple of pieces of osb up one on the counter the other against the wall. A few days later tha mouse took off about 3am. It stoped hiding under a clear tubaware lid and i could clearly see its dark shape under it. . One shot from my mark 2 rugar pistol from 3 yards and the mouse was shaped like a horse shoe with it nose bent backwards back to its tail. Problem solved. The tuba ware lid didn't survive and that gun was very loud in the house. It was a rude awaking for my girlfriend at the time now my wife. No other damage was done. Only the mouse and plastic lis was destroyed.

I'm pretty sure a hand full of sand wouldn't have done the trick.

I killed a lot of frog's with them also. They are like everything else and great when used within their limitations. A 110 won't be a good coon or otter trap either. Yet they are great for muskrat and squirrel.

Not so. They can be handy to have. Every spring, I get inundated with sap sucker woodpeckers.
