I like his hairstyle
The hangover special.
Kit Carson was the real deal Mountain Man.
Personally I liked Mike Fink.

Kit Carson was late to the party and didn't really do much as a mountain man. He made his fame after the mountain man era was pretty much over. And most of the stories about him were very exaggerated.

Mike Fink was a great historic figure but he died about the time the Mountain Men were first getting started. Never went to the mountains. He lived quite a life though.

Pretty obvious his gun was more important than his comb.

I enjoyed the movie, and still do, and enjoyed the book, Crow Killer”. And I don’t read many books.

The audio book is on audible and it is a really good listen(or read for that matter)
The movie ain’t bad but they left out all the good bits of the book.

I should’ve added an extra day or 2 to the vacation and gone to Cody. Next time.
Another book on the way.

the Mrs heard me talking about the book, Crow Killer, and without me knowing, ordered it. I read it the first time, nearly nonstop. I am going on vacation next week and plan to read it again at a more leisurley pace.

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, and now I can say , the book is even better.

If half the stuff in the book is true, Johnston led a pretty amazing life

Also , I have a pretty amazing wife.

That’s the one thing about these mountain man books. Some of the facts are hear say. Like the movie The Revenant……..the one where Leo was pushing for climate change while filming near Calgary when it warmed up to melting temperatures. He’s never heard of a chinook…lol

The movie “Jeremiah Johnson” - based on the book “the mountain man” by Vardis Fisher. The character in the book is named Sam Menard.

I read Crow Killer a while back, can’t remember how close the storyline is between the two books.
