only problem i ever had with steel screen is in really dry sand it will want to go through the screen instead of just laying on top. in places like that i usually put the screen on and then laid wax paper on top of the screen to keep the sand from going through it.

steel screen fits and works on those no bs traps better than any other trap i have ever used.

Thanks for the info Bluegrassman. I have some uncut steel screen. A hole role from Ogormans I have an old paper cutter as well. I will cut a lot of them when I figure out what works best in this soil. Had a coyote trap set 41 days. And catch 2 days ago. So I will be using foam under it as well Our record here is 64 days in ground and still catch Coyote. I need trap to run 90 days plus. In all types of weather

I'm gonna have to try the pipes with them being even with the ground. I use 10" pipes (with about 3-4" sticking up in grass clump) but those get chewed on and thrown outside catch circle (if I'm lucky). Makes total sense about the moving around to get positioned on bait.

Because. They may stay in the ground for 40 to 60 days. Before making a catch I’m using under alls and wire screen.

Big kill area and no silt fill in under the pan, sounds like a good plan.

We get so much rain here the trap would be filled under the pan if not using under alls.

Steel screen is the most weatherproof pan cover. They can take a lot of rain and have no silt in and no donut affect and therefore keep consistent pan tension.

I would take dust over mud any day. Hard to make a natural looking flat set here unless your using chafe and grass clippings.

Yes. I remember those days. Glad I’m not working in the South right now. 60 plus inch’s of rain a year?? No thanks.
