Anyone near there? Heading east next week with the wife. Renting a pickup, be nice to see someone else’s trapping area, rental cars can go anywhere I heard.

Seriously doubt there's any fur trapping anywhere near there. Closest would probably be nuisance raccoon.

No footholds without permit, permit depends on the mood and political bent of the local biologist.

Lots of ADC/NWCO work but largely exotics.

Hopefully you won't be disappointed. They got wiped off the map by a hurricane a year ago, along the coast. We stopped by the pier last September. It's completely gone.

The beaches have been cleaned up pretty well. I fly into Ft. Myers and rent a car to get to Okeechobee. This time of the year is great for big crappies.

Of course I have to do an obligatory day at the beach with my wife, but I like the fishing and a drive to the southern tip of the state looking at gators and enjoying the sunshine. Try a couple restaurants, you get the idea.

Edison’s and Fords winter homes are in Ft Myers if you are interest.

Ringling brothers museum 1 1/2 hrs north of that.

We were in the area last year, most inland areas were fine. Beachfront was still recovering.

This year we are staying in a house that just got done with repairs this week.

Looks like we are going with Captain Kelly Kurtz, my wife's cousin owns Mangrove Charters. I guess he specializes in light tackle redfish. We will have a grandson with us so should be fun.
