Was at the farm yesterday and had reason to travel down a road less traveled. At a cross roads on one corner.....next to the bee hives......was a bee hive of mixed tracks. In addition to all the deer, were fresh tracks from bobcat, coyotes and coon. Busy place. Within a mile or so one could also find otter, mink, probably red fox and beaver.
Would or do people travel to destinations to trap? Thinking not big numbers of any one, but one or more of large numbers of species. A chance to trap all those in a week or less time?

Lots of guys that live up south take vacation to go run their traplines down north. Stay at the cabin and trap and hunt grouse, moose bear etc,for a couple weeks a few times during the season. They also ice fish and fish open water when on their trapping vacations on their RTL's. Lots of these guys also trap at home on private land as well as on their RTL.

I've been thinking about trying to put together a trip down to the lower 48 so the kids and I could experience trapping different kinds of animals and in a different environment. Seems like it would be a lot of fun and a great learning experience for the kids.

Doc friend of mine paid to go on a trapline up in Canada and tag along. I’d be afraid of attracting the wrong kind of tourists with bad intent.

My wife and I used to take short trips to different places in Idaho, mainly to learn the country and catch a bit of fur. We'd set up the wall tent for a week or two. Was always a great time. We'd pick places on public land where we'd rarely see another human. We'd catch a bit of fur, drink some whiskey, usually freeze ourselves at night, give the dogs somewhere new to romp, and play a bit of cribbage. They were the best of times. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2024/02/full-10376-207439-3025_xx.jpg) Jack

HA, South is up here.Up stream and up hill. North is downstream and downhill when you live north of the arctic watershed-why everyone here says down North and Up south.
