I lost my yeti baculum at the sweetwater,I think one of the strippers absconded with it.

Think it makes sense. There’s water in the fat & muscle and it is skin after all.

“ A surface loses heat through conduction, evaporation, convection, and radiation.[1] The rate of convection depends on both the difference in temperature between the surface and the fluid surrounding it and the velocity of that fluid with respect to the surface. As convection from a warm surface heats the air around it, an insulating boundary layer of warm air forms against the surface. Moving air disrupts this boundary layer, or epiclimate, allowing for cooler air to replace the warm air against the surface. The faster the wind speed, the more readily the surface cools.”

I just checked it,it is just about dry now.No grease coming out of the skin.
I will be surprised if any grease comes out of the skin since it was frost scraped.

I will tan it this spring.I have a couple skunks to do also. Not worth selling a lone coon for 3 or 4 dollars.
Coon are extremely rare in these parts, this one found one of my jackpot snares last november, dont know where he came from.

Martentrapper,Last coon I caught was around 2008.
Dont know where they come from.
Caught a bobcat this year also which have never been caught in this country according to MNR.
Started catching longtailed weasels a few years ago,now one shows up every couple or 3 years.
Also Ptarmigan in town which never was known here before and an arctic fox about 80 miles north a few years ago
Next will be polar bears coming down from the bay.
