The taste of lake trout vary. Those we caught in Quebec at Chibougamau did not taste too good. the ones form Lake Ontario are ok but the finger Lakes ones taste good. I like Pike much better. Here in Pa we hardly had any ice this year or last. And very nice catch I am very jealous of all the fish you catch......jk

Small ones are incredible smoked. I do a mean maple glazed smoked trout. The issue is that a trout this size could be over 40 years old. And as such, are loaded with toxins. And I don't know about you, but keeping a giant thats that old seems weird somehow. I like knowing those fish are out there somewhere crushing ciscoes and gobies and getting bigger.

Although imo alder smoked is the only way to eat them!

Nice trout Hutchy, Have you ever tried Dr Juice . Trout . Cook pot barley, add Dr Juice stir in while its still hot, .Store in freezer , till you need it A little at a time in the water column, while jigging. Quite often they will be up high. . An old buddy , on Simcoe, showed me this. You do have a system that works, old 243
