We have a 1 1/2 year old chocolate lab.
I bet he wolfs his 2 cups of Science Diet nuggets down in 15 seconds
I'll have to time him one day

Must be something with the breed most labs of my acquaintance are obese if not kept on a diet. Friend of mine had an overweight black lab. We called it a flabador.

My Mountain Cur doesn’t want to stop eating. I had labs and beagles the same way. So I would guess labs aren’t the only ones

Interesting that so many have had labs that just gorge. The three that I had I would free feed and never became fat. I know it’s unusual and free feeding is not recommended.
They lived to 13-14 years and were never fat. The three of them were knuckleheads and ate socks and chewed the heck out of everything in sight, it seemed, while puppies. All three were from Mayo Kelloggs kennels.
They were #1,2,and 3 the best dogs I have had. I heard you only get one “great dog” per lifetime and he was in those three.

My daughter is a vet tech and says labs are also far more prone to eating socks, underwear, golf balls and rocks. Our 1 1/2 year old chocolate...has thrown up dozens of socks...knock on wood

have you tried a slow feeder ? I have no idea why they are always hungry , but I have had a few dogs that would over eat from a regular bowl and then puke the slow feeder bowl it like a maze for the food to get stuck in , the non opposable thumbs version of peel and eat shrimp it slows you down having to shell them it may or may not keep you from over eating in the case of shrimp , but it slows you down. the dogs work at it while hungry but give up when it gets to hard until they are hungery enough to put in the effort again. at least it stops the waste of food and dog puke one dog has this and the down side is they can pick it up and carry it around the yard https://www.farmandfleet.com/products/1365349-jw-3-cup-skid-stop-slow-feed-bowl.htmlthe other has this one and it seems harder to get food out and they don't pick it up and run with it https://www.farmandfleet.com/products/1397913-outward-hound-fun-feeder-large.htmlbut it doesn't hold as much
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

And they shed their weight in hair per day.... Bingo! Northern deer put on winter fat. Southern deer put on tick fat. Labs put on hair fat. I need to change my entire wardrobe to off-white/light yellow to blend in with all of the hair.

ANY ONE OF YOU THAT IS SICK OF YOUR LAB, REGARDLESS OF AGE, PM ME AND I WILL SEND YOU MY ADDRESS. I love labs and sure do miss having one warming my feet and critiquing my cooking.
I have nothing clever to put here.

I've never rationed my dogs food. NEVER. I fill their bowl full and they have been able to eat when they want to. As young pups, they may go hog wild but they've all self learned it's THIERfood. They've all self adjusted. All my labs have been lean/ muscular dogs. This cup here/ cup there drives me nuts! Those tend to be the dogs that eat like pigs. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2024/03/full-13070-210015-109_0919_zps0d21b437_1.jpg) Roscoe was 3 or 4 here. Had a full bowl/ bucket to his disposal.

I always though food competition growing up impacted a dogs eating habits if it’s a if you don’t eat now the food will be gone then issue.
Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!
