something like this, looks like it takes a while to make but it doesn't. Few swipes with my spade, stomp my big feet down a few times and done.. rising water can still give you fits but this works well for me

That's a pretty set KY. If I was a beaver I'd get caught!

My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

When a trap is sprung half way out on a 10 foot cable, I figure it hit the trap with its chest and trap got a hold of some hair. That’s not gonna hold it long….about the time it takes to go 5 feet on a drowning cable.

Can’t speak for water trapping, but if you use fox urine down here with footholds, your first check will have one quarter to half tripped depending on your deer density. I got tired of the deer so I quit using fox pee and now no more tripped sets. Something about a fox is a deer magnet. What’s really heartbreaking is having a camera of it and watching the deer play their game and trip the trap and then 2hrs later a coyote comes by and checks the sprung trap!!!

Every snapped trap is a lesson. I try to really evaluate what happened, what was wrong, and how to fix it. What really drives me crazy, is when a set gets worked and the trap is to totally undisturbed. Ever had a castor mound pounded flat and the set trap is sitting there like the jokes on you? That urks me for the rest of the day lol.

When a 330 is fired with no catch....always look around the area...most of the time you’ll find a dead rat or mink

It is better to die on your feet than to live on your knees.

Twist that trap so the beaver steps between the jaws, not over or on the dog. It's a little hard to bed but pays off.

99% of my tripped land traps are from deer. A sprung trap pulled out of the bed but no catch circle or any other disturbance to the set equals deer.

Eh...wot?

IN 1982 I Became aware of Charlie Dobbins book Adjustment of Foothold Traps In that bock he goes into detail how to make improvements on how to make traps more effective at making catches . Simple ways of removing a pans from wobbling by squaring up the pan notch and also the dog Also installing a washer on the pan tension screw The first things I NOTICED WAS my catch increased by a large amount And hand in hand I realized that I had less traps that where fired but empty By reducing the wobble on the traps you are improving the odds that the animal is making good contact with the pan and that contact is generally going to insure that the jaws will get a better hold on your animal Trap adjustment made a huge difference in my success rate and at the same time reduced the amount of time spent resetting empty traps Ando f course I was catching more fur .
