What kind of place are you trapping that your trail is perfectly straight? 750s? Your oppressive government allows those? Can you use regular foothold for other species? For the 60 yards you can see in the pic, I guess it is pretty straight! Trapping laws in Canada are pretty relax. Sure there’s AIHTS, but compared to how trapping is in the lower 48, we’re pretty free here. Maybe not as free as Alaska though. Lots of foothold traps legal in Manitoba for Fox, coyote, bobcat, Lynx, wolf… I use 750’s for wolves.

Quick question, I see you got hardware mesh in the back side of your boxes. Do you feel that helps with your catch percentage or other benefits? What else should I use? That’s like asking a guy if fishing line on a reel helps to catch fish.

If you’re wondering if the hardware cloth is better to use than sealing it up with a wooden board, then I’d say yes the mesh is better. I think an animal will enter the box easier being able to see through it.
Because these boxes are not used to carry anything heavy, having a mesh screen bottom works. If the boxes were used to carry rocks, I’d have a wooden bottom.
There are many styles of boxes used for marten trapping. This style/setup works for me!

Thanks for taking us along on the Trap line. You wouldn't happen to have a picture of the belly of that hybrid cat?
