While your pic and shout out to your coworkers is cool and all and I have no problem with your post.... international women's day is somewhat offensive to me personally, as a woman. It's a holiday to celebrate gender equality and reproductive "rights".
Firstly, I don't want the government to dictate to businesses that they must pay me as much as they pay some guy who may me much better at the job than I am, simply because I'm a girl. I firmly believe wages should be determined by merit, not by race, sex, age, or any other demographic. Pay me what you pay me for the work I do. A male and female salesman shouldn't make the same pay because they're different genders. They should be paid for what they bring to the company. If I'm a better salesman, I should make more than the dude. If he's better at selling, he should make more than me.
Secondly, I don't believe women should have any more "reproductive rights" than men do. It takes two to tango. In all cases other than where a man committed a crime to impregnate a woman, the man and woman should have 50/50% say on what happens to the fetus. A woman should not be allowed to murder a man's child without his consent.
I guess what I'm saying is, to me, celebrating women's day is the same as celebrating this country's slide into immorality.
Tatiana commented earlier but deleted her post after she had her say. She made mention that in Russia it is celebrated for different reasons and I applaud it. I am not hip to this country’s BS. I understand your viewpoint. I just don’t look that deep into things.
As a woman, and a Christian, and a wife, I respect the headship of my husband and the love and protection it offers. I also carry myself with as much responsibility as possible especially when it comes to reproductive issues.
Additionally, I kind of live in a bubble and don’t watch the news or follow politics.
For good reason.
