Well, when places like Idaho and the F4WM are paying $2,500.00 per wolf and you keep the wolf, how expensive is TOO EXPENSIVE for a trap ?

I ask if anybody had experience and had an opinion of the Sterling 800. I am sure it is of top quality as I have heard nothing but good about all Sterling traps. Who is the F4WM and do they pay for wolves taken in other states besides Idaho?

Western SD Fur Harvesters, SDTA, NTA, FTA and life member of NRA. Cancer survivor (7 years) and still fighting it.

F4WM = Federation for Wildlife Managment REIMBERSES MEMBERS for receipts pertaining to trapping -no receipts no pay -its 750-1000 in MT varies by region -and it varies by region in ID between 750 and 1500 its not a bounty its to offset the cost of Wildlife management problem which the fwp of MT and ID caused by expecting wolves to stay in designated areas and keep there numbers below 300 -now there are over 3000 documented wolves in the Rocky Mountain region. and there's actually a lot more that are un documented . the 5 year harvest average for MT and ID is just 700 wolves. each wolf consumes over 20 big game animals each year . and over 140 in there 7 year life span

Hunted Wyoming right on over the pass bordering Idaho around 2008 after getting enough points to draw into the area. Saw elk, moose and quality mule deer during the 7 days. Never saw or heard any wolves. Three years later got drawn again. On the second night wolves started howling from multiple mountain tops from our camp. Horses and mules got very nervous. Mentioned it the the two conservation agents who road in on horseback. The only game the were interested in hearing about is if we had seen any grouse. Big game was non existent. Never went back after that.

I’ve only got a yote in a Bridger #9 but I mostly snare. Still wanna get at least one with a FH, another tool in the box. The next one I might try is the NBS. Another chew out yesterday while taking everything out but got a young one 20’ away in a different snare. Fur is starting to rub.
Like others mentioned, I want something that’ll tare through some snow, and stay in one piece if daddy comes by. One of the Brawn’s pan was a bit frozen yesterday, but the others functioned. If a bear jumped on the frozen one, woulda had em.
