This beaver job has seemed to settle down now that the water is off of it. The dams blew out with this last heavy rain so I slipped over onto the county owned parcel to see what there is to see.

I don't often get to see the interior of a stick lodge.



We don't get too many stick lodges here, mostly bank dens.

BTW, I didn't set this parcel, I'm upstream across the road.

I was also reminded of the power that moving water has. The dam on the parcel I have access to had been overtopped when I got there with more rain coming a day later so I went ahead and notched it knowing more water was coming. The notch is now a scour hole deeper than my handy dandy garden hoe is long. I couldn't find bottom, lol. Good thing I know to check depth before stepping off, lol. I was walking across that spot last week.

Did you leave the beaver a pb&j sandwich? Looks like one up in that lodge.

I don't poke around in lodges up here. Ain't got no moccasins, its the hood rats and their paraphernalia that skeers me.

if the county owns it , it isn't trespassing unless they have signs and fences like the dump , Jail , or garage.

Down here all land is posted by law, no signage required. You have to have written permission to access.

if the tax payer owns it they should have to have a very good reason that a tax payer shouldn't walk on it

if it is under water normally and your boots don't get dry an incredibly good reason

Wet feet and float don't apply either as Georgia is one of the original thirteen and has some odd stuff going back to crown law.

There's a privately owned stretch of river in North Georgia that has been in the courts for years and was just finalized that the river bed and water are privately held.

The always safe bet here is to get it in writing first.

Here it's public property. You don't need permission if it's covered by water 6 months of the year. This is for rivers with a watershed greater than 5 square miles.
