"Ice out " record yesterday !

Since 1888... records of " ice in " and "ice out " have been kept on New Hampshires Lake Winnipesaukee.
And yesterday on St Paddy's Day ...the earliest " Ice Out " evah...was recorded.
Beating the old record by one day.
That lake usually has ice out April 17-20.
That means an early jump on Salmon fishing...as that opens up here April 1 st.

Yes very early ice out here this year also and froze over late in the first place

Curious, when was the old record? The old record was March 18 2016 ice out. Yesterday's ice out beat it by 1 day. The latest ice out ..was May 12 1888

After all the nice warm weather we have had over the past couple of months, I see reality in the forecast. 3-6" of snow Thursday and another 12-18" possible next week. Weeehoooo!

The horribly warm weather in February dropped our heating bill by $75 under January's. I'm liking this climate change regardless of records.

Since I am from Texas, I have no idea what "ice out" or "ice in" is anyway  I would guess "ice in" was the date there was no open water but is "ice out" the first sign of open water or no ice? Winter was mild down here compared to normal temps

Ice out here is when Herbie sinks.(herbie is an old yellow beetle that gets towed out on the lake every spring).

Winter was mild down here compared to normal temps Ice out ..on Lake Winnipesaukee...is when the Mount Washington cruise ship ..can dock at all 5 of its stops. And just the opposite for ice in..on the lake
