I currently have a Sig P365X and use it as my EDC gun. My wife carries the standard P365. There were no manual safeties available when we bought them. There are now. We both carry AIWB.

My biggest concern is an accidental discharge while re-holstering. I'm mostly concerned about the possibility of clothing getting caught inside the trigger guard while re-holstering and causing a discharge.

On the other hand I like the simplicity of having no safety to worry about in a high-stress situation.

I'm considering getting us each the same model but with a manual safety.

Actually, if I do go with the manual safety I'd get the XL. That extra 1/2" of barrel length would make it more comfortable for me to carry.

I'm looking for opinions. Stay as is or move to the models with manual safeties?

Eh...wot?

Been carrying P 365 after they got the bugs out. No safety. Do not need additional item. I am very careful reholstering. Carried glocks for years till the P365 came out. Never have had any problems.

No safety keep it in a tight holster at all times until you need it or clean it. One less thing to slow you down under stress you will have enough garbage going through your brain without wondering if the safety is on or off. That is what makes a revolver a good choice the simplicity of it.

I have a 365 and a XL version. The 365XL is my favorite “all around” pistol.

Get a good polymer or kydex holster, and practice clearing clothing for re-holstering just as you do for drawing.

Pros and cons to everything but in a high stress situation, you lose fine motor skills so hitting that safety in time likely won't happen unless you practice with it a lot. Like over a thousand times, a lot. No safety on any of my carry guns as we weren't allowed to have a safety on any of our work guns or if they did have one they always needed to be in the fire position while working.

To a thumb trained on a 1911 not having an on/off switch is a confusing issue with handguns. I've actually found my thumb searching for one on a revolver before.

Just goes to say whatever you choose for a primary and train hard on will become muscle memory.

To the original question. Choose what makes you comfortable but remember that muscle memory thing. After however long carrying without you might have a no bang situation if under stress and old point and shoot habits take over.

JMO but what limited handling of the 365 I've had I'd say if it ain't broke don't try to fix it. The 365 does not seem to have such a light trigger, more akin to a double action pull, to be overly concerned. Particularly if your reholster habits include clearance of clothing or obstruction.

But if you're wanting single action every shot as only carrying cocked and locked provides a on/off switch is a must. And in this case the switch must have a definitive and properly stiff on off function, something often overlooked in the aftermarket or add on design, because that is all that is standing in the way of light trigger bang. If memory serves the 365 safety positively clicks but isn't as heavy as my preference on a 1911.

If wanting the same double first pull a switch is nothing more than redundancy, which isn't a bad thing.

Many 1911 types also have a grip safety that’s a plus. I find the 1911 thumb safety rather easy to catch on to in my personal use. With untrained inexperienced handlers messing with a safety can be at the cost of trigger discipline making the safety a distraction of the problem at hand. IMO

True that. Which goes back to training. I'm kind of a luddite and stick to just what I know and trust. For me that's index finger tip on the slide stop pin until front sight is on target.

In a perfect world, perfect training and perfect mechanics you wouldn't even need a safety.

That grip safety has been known to cause issues, mostly due to a poor initial grasp of the pistol. My muscle memory has my ring finger first knuckle indexing the trigger guard, HARD, before wrapping the web tight into the grip safety as my thumb goes for the safety shelf and index finds the slide stop.
