What a day I had yesterday changing a ball joint on my plow truck. To start off I took the knuckle off and lubed up the hole and the top side of the joint I lined it up and put the press onit went in but not hight enought so I try again and the press slipped off so I tried again for hrs. it went up 1/32 or 1/16" real slow but I wasted the day. I thought my 30 gallon air compressor was good but I found out a 60 gal would of been better. I don't use the air alot to justify buying a bigger one .

My son has the big Milwaukee impact and that thing is a knuckle saver. Did a ball joint on his truck knocked it out and new one in no problem with the puller kit. I have a 3/8 DeWalt that had for years don't come close. The nice thing about the Milwaukee is as Green said. Put it in a bag take it with on road trip. Get a flat tire out on road. That thing is so handy. I didn't need that kinda help when I got the DeWalt. But now I'm looking to get the Milwaukee like the boy has because I can't really spin a 4 way lug wrench like I used to. Year ago I bought the big Milwaukee hammer drill to use for drilling holes ice fishing. That thing is a beast too. Used it last summer too spin in big 8&10 inch land scape screws in timbers. As you get older you find the impact or drill can even do things like put down the Jack stands on the camper. I'm going to make a tool for my drill to crank the pop-up camper up.

the really handy combo is a compact and a high torque
my son got the Milwaukee M18 1/2 inch compact impact , with 250 foot pounds it does most things , but lacks the real nut busting torque but you can sure get it in a lot more places
so some sort of compact or sub compact in 3/8 or 1/2 for assembly and disassembly of smaller stuff
and then a chassis work nut buster to use when you have some more room
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.
Make sure to deburr the hole in the control arm, sometimes you'll get a little burr/nick in the hole that will give you fits. You can also stick the ball joint in the freezer for 1/2 hour and warm the control arm hole up with a propane torch-not enough to get smokin red hot, of course, just enough to expand it a little.
I have to look at the battery inpacks . I was going to replace the other ball joint on the other side I said no didn't go good yesterday so I put the hub and also a control arm went OK. Tomorrow Ill do the other side.
I have the newest DeWalt 20 volt 1/2" impact. It is around 900 lb 1100 in reverse. Using a 5 amp hr battery. It is much stronger than my old 1/2" electric. Have to watch the settings or you smap the bolts off.
I remember the old ones on my '55 chevy. Hammer and chisel to get them off. You only did one a day, then you had to let your bleeding hands heal and do the other side. They were riveted on......jk
