Set where mower smashed down the pushups and they repaired. Think that was 3 days ago. Seems like they must have a circuit like coyotes and otters. Just takes a few days to circle back thru. Rained last night. Half an inch.

Caught another......missed another. Getting better at reading the field.......trap location........and having switched from garden trowel to an old retired kitchen knife, getting much better at opening tunnels to just big enough to set the trap, then cover back with sod plug vs. loose fill. Knife is the only way to go. Cleaner........faster.

My trowel has a serated edge I use to saw the sod and then I can flip it over to expose the tunnel.

It looks like Home Depot now has them.

Have caught a couple more. Now up to 7 in about 2 weeks. All caught within 100 feet of my front door. Locations that have worked are visible small bare dirt pushups in a straight run......near the major pushups. Stomp all the pushups down and look for them to push it back up. Set those. With only one exception, trap has been in the ground for 4 to 5 days before they return. But they do eventually return. Using a knife to excavate and expose the tunnel with minimal disruption (and no longer back filling with loose dirt) has resulted in catches vs. tripped traps.

Yep, minimal excavation is extremely important and if you get in a hurry you will end up with too big an excavation. Keep it just a little narrower than the trap and you’ll be good to go. Keep it up!
