That just goes to show you that NONE of the alphabet agencies deserve the funding we have been givin them.

Here you go:
The People’s Garden Initiative is part of USDA’s broader efforts to advance equity, support local and regional food systems and access to food, and encourage use of conservation and climate-smart practices.
Advance equity??

The program isn't for home gardens. Gardens at private residences aren't even allowed in the program. It's for things like community gardens run by organizations like nonprofits that provide educational benefits.

My two gardens do not qualify as we don't have collaboration, visitors even though quite a bit of produce is donated to those who want some. I think it is interesting and valuable for the USDA to want to highlight those community garden individuals and organizations. We read post after post on here about people to lazy or ignorant to grow their own food and this is an opportunity to expand through education the likelhood of more raising their own produce. Some people are make a career about being upset.

If I were required to register my garden, would I be entitled to government subsidy payments?

More like they want to tax the food you get out of your own garden as an added income.

We are lucky here in WI we don't pay tax on food, be it bought or raised.

Always fun to read comments and see people out themselves as too lazy even bother reading to see what they’re replying to.

If memory serves me correctly Illinois was trying to get a bill to take control of the individuals private garden and at the same time was going to pass a law to keep us from pumping our own gas at the gas station, I don't know but guess they didn't get it done--- yet.

I also remember the gov was forking out some money for those community gardens in Detroit where a few years back they burned all the grocery stores and needed to rely on gardens to have any food within reasonable reach.

They've been trying hard to have people register poultry and other farm animals with the government too. I have some friends having to deal with it.
