My thoughts are better coon will be up a few ticks, more average coons will be sellable, wild mink will be up a tick or two, rats will start ho-hum and may be up a few ticks later in the selling season. Eastern or northern reds may be more sellable. I don't catch beaver or have any thoughts on WI type yotes.

The market is showing improvement but still seems fragile.

We have a lot of ground to cover to regain viable income and challenge hobby status. Fur markets are anti inflationary.
Things got overdone in good times and it’s gonna take time to correct. Currently about 6 years longer than predicted.

I predicted 8 years when things imploded in 2014. Lost 2 years due to covid. These slumps would not last so long if producers would stop flooding oversupplied markets. It appears to take some downright pitiful prices to get production in line with demand. The pattern is only getting worse.

Which item(s) are being over-supplied in today's fur market Dirt?

Only professionally caught, far northern furs from the wilds of Alaska,
are of suitable quality to be offered for sale in today's market !!!

Every other section of wild fur from the Lower 48 is over-supplied, worthless junk !!! whistle

Well, having just turned 80 I will still trap this worthless junk. I'd rather be out chasing $2 muskrats than sitting in some retirement home watching Matlock reruns lol.

Will trap regardless of the market. Got back into trapping a few years ago with the idea of not making any money and so far have been quite successful...

I always buy fur from a few here in the last few years and will be putting an ad in the Trap Shed soon, always pay a good price as well, never heard of people thinking I took them to the cleaners.

No don't buy a lot, but those who are interested and get me a message usually are happy.

Nope it won't start a giant sale off either, but what it does do is show that if one wants to, they can sell fur from trapping and hunting, I don't travel, I trust those I have bought from before, but sell me crap, then you are no better than others trying to get a handout at the liquor store.

People have to learn to keep their eyes and ears open and quit thinking that every year is going to be a boomer year, in this country fur is not fashionable, everyone has a take in bringing it back here if they want it become that way !!

I did well on last years inventory and expect to do better this year from the results of what I moved this summer.Good demand also.Pretty much sold out.
This is for raw fur, tanned fur and fur articles.
In a couple of the catalogues so far the prices are up a good bit for both tanned fur and fur articles.
I seen a nice pile of beaver this summer very nicely dressed in eastern europe at very competative prices with quality close to International dressers in winnipeg.
