I got some info on some 1/2 OakHill blueticks from a guy near me. Anyone ever tryout that bloodline? I don't remember the other 1/2. He said they would have papers and are out of good hunting stock, not trial dogs. Just trying to decide on a male or female for starters.

I’ve got a pack of 5 at the moment. Ugliest bunch of misfits I’ve ever had. But they’ll run the feet off a bunny. Pert near every beagle will run a rabbit, some just do it better others lol. I’m colorblind when it comes to hounds. I’d hunt a poodle if he ran rabbit’s the way I like. I also like hounds with good voices in addition to running.Don't like beagles that way over run the track also.

my 4 dogs are grade - no idea what the papers are
The best beagles will be the ones that can run often and given the opportunity
We have around 20-30 domestic crossed rabblts around our house we let our beagles run. Rabbits have made it around 5 years on their own - I dont feed them - they catch a few a year and more are born.......few neighbors were worried at first when they saw a weird colored rabbits down the road or under a porch but they are all used to it now and enjoy them as well.....I simply undo the kennels and let them run around our property and keep exercised when I dont have time to load them up and take them hunting. Nice setup.

I want as fast of a beagle as I can find. Fast beagles overrun tracks, but a good pack will pick it back up mighty quick. Slowpokes don’t eat my feed.

I made a quick video of my Divas chasing one behind my house. They over run a little but they move at a good pace. The video is my 4 yr old and two, two year old. About twice a year, they will catch one. I have seen them run it down and they all form a circle and nuzzle it to the ground, unhurt. I have picked the rabbit up and carried it away from them. You’ve seen beagles overrun a track 100 yards? I’ve seen a super fast one overrun one 20 maybe 25 yards. A 100 is a little crazy!!!! Lol I will take 20 yards no problem. Some of the hare hounds up here are crazy. Its what Alot of people are breeding for the trial now.Its all about speed and is getting way out of hand.
