#1, I’m not asking this question as a political one… not trying to violate the no politics policy that Paul has put into place. Did the United States make some kind of a treaty or other legally binding agreement.. that the United States would intervene with all the powers of its military , to aid Israel, should it become overwhelmed? Is there something that the United Nations did in 1948 … that guarantees protection from Allie’s should it come under full attack? Again… not trying to be political , but if the mods think it could cause problems,,, I understand if it needs to be zapped. I have 2 nephews who are in active duty ( one is currently stationed on a navy destroyer in the Gulf which has shot down a few missles)the other in the marines who is a crew chief for the osprey. I worry about them getting in harm’s way .

Resolution 181 and Hery Truman might help. I pray for a hedge of protection on our troops and for your nephews. There is no greater love than to lay down your life for a friend.

I know Harry Truman put in place some sort of agreement with Israel after he recognized them as a state. Don't think it involved boots on the ground, just financial and weapons aid. Most presidents have since honored this.
As an American I'm growing tired of our ancestors being compared to the migrants of today.

Posco is right. These Hamas are evil and raised that way. But to answer the question YES we do have an agreement. When Reagan gave Israel Nukes there was an agreement to protect the country as well. We did not want those nukes to get into Mooslime hands. It would be the end.
God please keep they 19 fallen UBB miners out of trouble up there.

I really was opposed to Reagan giving Israel nukes. Especially, since they officially have none. Now everybody knows. The best defense is a good offense.

Foxkidd44, not sure if you ever served, but most join hoping for war. I know I did. In fact, why would you join the military if you didn’t at least hope for a chance? I’m sure there’s no other place your nephews would rather be, so rest easy. If it’s not Israel we’d be somewhere else. I always thought it was Roosevelt that sailed the Great White Fleet around the world and basically said, screw around and find out…and that also includes our allies. I wasn’t able to serve because I have a hearing impairment, but I reckon you do have a point…I wanted to get in on some of the fun stuff.I guess that now I’m older, I tend to ( as most of us do when we have more years behind us than ahead) give things a little more thought about things than when I was younger.

‘Get in on the fun stuff’ not sure that is how most see it. The majority of the folks I served with did it for love of their country and hoped they would never have to utilize their training.
I was a flight medic and later a crew chief on Hueys.

My take.
I'm not aware of any type of formal mutual aid or defense treaty between Israel and the US.
However, as a free people democratically elected representative democracy I see no issue with cooperation with Israel when it serves our mutual interests.
I am not in favor of sending money, material or manpower to Israel, or any other, without full compensation and if it involves manpower it had better be a legitimate act of self defense. We need to quit sending our young men and women into foreign expeditions.
As for the special nature of the Jewish people and my personal belief in scripture.
One, I believe in God and His Word and the inerrancy of scripture, period!
Scripture tells us that God Himself made a covenant with His people, Israel.
Nuff said, that covenant exists and God never goes back on His word.
Now we know the full history. The rejection of the prophets, rejection of Messiah, the diaspora, the Shoah and the gathering together and establishment of Israel in our time.
My opinion, that's God plan and handiwork and I ain't God so I'm not about to try to read His mind in regards to His people.
I do know that God says those that bless Israel that He will bless. So I'm not against Israel and as scripture also instructs that we the elect of God known as the Church are grafted into the family of God the jews are my brothers and sisters estranged though we are.
So you can say that replacement theology is not scriptural and a lie from the father of all lies, Satan.
Now, does that mean salvation is ahead for the jews? I'm not God, remember, but some scripture does suggest a remnant will. But again that is His master plan.
I am alarmed though at two different threads I see rearing its ugly head. One inside the Church and the other outside. This Khazar/Rothschild/Replacement/Blood Libel nonsense that is whispered in some places and shouted in others. Check our history, it's beginning to sound lie the 1930s and over six million dead in the camps and ten to twelve times that around the rest of the world.

I do know that God says those that bless Israel that he will bless. I Isn't this blessing to Abraham some 430 years before the Mosaic covenant. Gen 12:3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee ( this is to Abraham) ( and to) and in thee shall all the nation's of the earth be Blessed. ( this of course includes Israel) But the blessing was to Abraham. And it was a blessing of his faith. And it would be fulfilled through his seed wich is Jesus Christ. What I'm saying is not replacement theology. And it's not anti Semitic. It's the fulfillment of God's promises through Jesus Christ.
