E. St Loius IL may be the worst town in the US for violent crime per 100,000 people. If you do cross the river dont use the I 70 bridge. Thing is in horrible condition. Should have been rebuilt 20 years ago.

PS IL is worse than CA for gun law. I don’t believe it’s possible to carry a firearm while hunting without breaking a law.

You can carry a concealed weapon into a private business that has a "no gun" sign on the front door. It is not a crime. However if they ask you to leave because they know you have a concealed weapon, then by law you have to, otherwise it is trespassing.

However, there are a couple exceptions to this rule in which you cannot carry no matter what. That being government buildings, schools, and one or two others that I can't remember.

This! The Arch is a National Monument and ANY weapon is prohibited inside the building.

If caught carrying in a posted place, the worst they can do is ask you to leave, If you refuse, they can call the cop's, and the worst they can do is ask/tell you to leave, if you refuse the worst they can do is issue a ticket. But only a moron would let it go that far.
