I started doing the hay thing at age 9-10 on couple neighboring farms, was every summer thing. Also picked strawberries think was paid nickel a quart??
At 16 I went to work as herdsman's on a hog farm raised registered Duroc's. So I then began paying SS and income tax for first time. I think I started at $1 hour was making $1.50 when I graduated highschool went to home building at $3.00 and hour. Thought I was going to be rich.
Took my kids in late 1990s to a farm I trapped on so they got a chance to sweat doing hay. That was the last time I moved any amount of hay.
