Sumer before 8th grade I cut about 30-40 aspens with an axe, and used the axe to cut to the desired length and made a 5 axe handle by 4 axehandle cabin. Use bows etc. to make a roof (flat!)and had to redo with stronger poles as I used sod for the roof. Cut out the door, but no windows. This was done at the edge of one of our woods in a soil bank field. Fouond an old space heater and put in a chimney with no insulation. Later in the fall when colder I lit a fire with some wood and was heating my "dream cabin" when the roof started on fire. luckily not much wind and my older sister, mom and brother were able to beat out the fire before it burned all of the cabin and some of the field. Got a pretty good reaming out over that one. Later that winter the remaining logs were hauled home and cut up to burn in the furnace. Last cabin I ever built.

Was only 1 Dairy Queen in my area. Pulled up to it in my '70 GTO with my best friend, General Sorchik, and beautiful identical twins, Donna and Linda.
Mr. Fletcher who owned the Dairy Queen, had just installed an electric bug zapper on a pole in the parking lot. He was proud as a peacock to have it and showed it to us. We got our ice cream and I flipped one of the pennies from my change up into the bug zapper. Blew out the big main fuses (they did not have breakers) and shut down the whole place. Mr. Fletcher did not have spares so he was shut down for the night. I was banned from his establishment for life.

I was not the perpetrator of this joke on this poor girl but I was an accomplice in the fact that I knew what my friend had did. I could have easily told the girl or the teacher but I didn't.

We had a really squeamish girl in our class. She was afraid of everything and grossed out by most anything. We were in 4th grade if I remember right. Our desks were about 2 feet by 2 feet and open on the one end facing the chair. The opening was about 8 inches or so high. My friend brought a cocoon into class one day and we stuck it all the way into the back of her desk. I don't recall how many weeks passed and we had mostly forgotten about it. We figured it hatched on a weekend or it was too warm and it died. We were taking a test one day and the room was real quiet. All of a sudden this girl let out a blood curdling scream and ran out of the room screaming at the top of her lungs. For an instant we wondered what happened and then we saw it. A big moth had hatched from the cocoon. His wings were all wrinkly and wet looking. He was sitting right at the edge of the opening of her desk.

The teacher removed the moth and then started asking how that moth could have got into her desk. We didn't confess and we kind of felt bad about scaring her so badly.

I shot a hummingbird with my Red Rider BB gun 50 years ago when I was 9 or 10. I messed up showing it to my Dad. I didn't see my trusty Red Rider for a month. I was proud of my shot. I shot it on the wing as it hovered over a Mimosa tree bloom. I wasn't proud for very long after Dad got through with me.
