I understand there are some people who have very difficult times when air quality is poor. I know several folks with respiratory issues.
I would guess there are best management practices for forests, prairies and such. But, wildfires are not new. Been around for a while. They'll be around long after we're dust.

They fight wild fires to protect houses, buildings, towns and people and towns. Not the forest. Correct me if I'm wrong.

They are also padding the numbers now. Every ditch fire along the highway is now logged as a “Wild fire”.

That's the unfortunate part of how wildfires are managed. Plan ole bush is at the end of the priority list.

correction that fire in Manitoba is 30,000 ha or 75,000 acres or close to 120 sections and is still growing
600 people moved out of Cranberry Portage, some of Shakey's crews are doing mop up of the hydro burnt poles now, saw 4 semi's pull out of their yard filled with replacement poles this morning

I say let it burn. But it would be nice if they would let me know who I can send the bill for all the extra meds, I have to take because of the so called (wildfires) last summer was (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) and not looking great for this summer.

All unplanned ignitions are considered a wildfire. I will GUARANTEE you that each of these big fires.............started small.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Youll never stop all wildfires, but you can sure manage their size with proper forest management and sustained harvesting, which includes fire breaks. Not familiar with Manitoba geography, maybe access is a problem? Proper management takes a lot of staff and money, but so does battling wildfires. The difference is management puts money back in the coffers, wildfires not so much. Unfortunately, a whole bunch of them are started intentionally, and even worse, a good bunch are started intentionally by firefighters. There is huge money to be made by these contract firefighters...too much. Not to mention the new age of radical protesters that seem to think its a good way to make a statement .

I am pulling numbers out of my backside but I would guess that number is less than .1 % of all fires. Yes, sadly it happens but I would place it in the "rare event" category.

80 km or 50 mph winds coming two different ways put a big front on this fire with these weather systems changing.

Hard to get stats because the US doesnt do a good job of separating firefighter caused arson vs arson from another cause, but they are starting to realize its a much bigger problem than thought. Here is just one article, many more if you want to search them up.
