after doing it.?

All this smell stuff pees me off.
There better be foods" , yanno, something they can eat" when they get there.
All these liquid scents are nothing more then an initial attractant.

And EVERY SINGLE bear in the lower 48 that has a few years on it knows it.
I was using anise, gold rush, (long before it became a commercial product)

;), wouldn't doubt I was the very first to use it over 30 years ago. ( I found it by accident).
All these liquid scents do is initially start the bait and every older bear has " smelled there, done that".

Anything meat based better be fresh. Bears have gotta be dang near starving to eat meat once the flies find it.

I'd try the small oil sunflower seeds for the grain product. There is a reason people's birdfeeders get hammered.

wink

I’m not sure about baking grease, but fryer oil mixed with corn seems to work pretty dang good. Gives the corn flavour.
Oil splashed around no doubt brings the bears into the bait.

But those big boars know somethings up! Fortunately we have a Spring hunting season and get to hunt during their rut.

Big difference here between "woods" bear and "farm" bear. I cannot get farm bear to touch peanut butter or fryer grease, woods bear will tear into just about anything. Pop tarts, granola, trailmix, and popcorn are universal for both. Peanut butter and greased grain will get a lot of attention in the remote areas for me. Around other hunters, the best bait will win with all things being equal. Most guys will find something that gets a response and stick with it for the duration. We will usually start with a lot of sweets and switch to more nuts grains as the season progresses. I would pay a premium if I could find doughnuts in ton quantity as it seems to be the best for us the whole duration of baiting season. Good luck

You nailed it then missed the whole point. There is no food value with the used cooking grease but that bear will have it all over its feet when it gets done feeding on the other food you have with the cooking grease(I use sweets) and will leave a trail for miles that will bring other bear into the bait then those bear will do the same thing bringing in even more bear.In using scent everything does not have to be a food scent.Do you think using beaver caster while trapping is being used as food?As for big bear they are not stupid. The biggest thing is your own scent control and no movement on your part while in the tree stand. One mistake and it's over for that big bear.

I just got to thinking of the average size of the bears I've taken over the years. I have a couple of flyers on the high and low side but the average came out to about 280 pounds. That's hunting over bait and spot & stalk.

I think the average age is around ten.

Your above average. Most hunters I have guided the average would be around 150 pounds. If the hunter is happy I'm happy.

It's a butterscotch scent additive. From what I hear it's pretty potent. Sounds like some guys mix it with fryer oil and spray it around the bait site, I also saw a video of a guy that mixed it with mountain dew. It's about $30-35 for an 8 ounce bottle, the directions say to mix 1-2 ounces with 5 gallons of oil. You can get it on Amazon and other online retailers.

I agree, whatever makes them happy. My first rifle and bow kills. About forty years ago for the rifle and thirty-five five years ago with the bow. The bow kill was 292 dressed and ten years old according to the tooth analysis F&G biologists conduct. Not really a dimes worth of difference between the two. Both around ten years old. My hair wasn't gray back then.
