Looking to treat the husband to a day or two of walleye fishing on our way home from Sioux Falls in late July. Somewhere between SD and NJ that has lodging, but also either boat rentals or charters available.

He has already fished Lake Erie, so I was thinking somewhere more towards SD/MN/WI, but open to any suggestions.

Not much to work with on that road trip if you eliminate Erie.

Mille Lacs is absolutely choked with walleyes but you cannot keep any and it's quite a ways out of your way.

My best suggestion is Red Wing/ Lake Pepin.

Wife saw on Facebook where a person was on a launch with about 20 people caught close to 100 walleyes on MilleLacs. My neighbor on MilleLacs said he and a friend caught between 25-30 walleyes in about 3 hours. DNR claims the number of walleyes are low even though we just had a winter with little fishing pressure.

More and more when I go anywhere I find myself keeping track of where the nearest rest room is.

I might know a guy near Mille Lacs with some local connections. World Class fishery if your interest is Trophy Walleye, Smallmouth Bass or 50” Musky. Late July on the Big Lake isn’t known for being the best time to fish.

Missouri River in Chamberlain SD is another option. I know an Iowan with a bit of experience there. Guy could probably take you golfing in your spare time. I wouldn’t suggest playing him for $ though.

It’s a lazy man who can’t find his wife a second job !

Green Bay - we have it all. Great fishery, lodging, entertainment, and the Packers!
